By Cynde McInnis, Year of the Right Whale Project Co-Coordinator
We are going to switch gears with our lessons and move into the field of acoustics or the study of sound. Fish, whales seals, and invertebrates all make sounds. Add to that the natural sounds from weather and ice, and then all the human created sound…the ocean is a very noisy place! Explore the activity to learn about two different types of whales, as well as familiarize yourself with the sounds of the ocean. Come back next week to learn more.
After you do the activity, come back to these websites to learn more about the topic of acoustics!
