Do you have a favorite whale? One of mine is Pinball, a humpback born in 1989. It was so exciting this year when Pinball appeared in our area with a calf – her 8th! We enjoyed watching Pinball and her calf many times throughout the summer.
Pinball’s one of my favorite whales because I’ve seen her just about every whale watching season over the past 25 years. She has really distinctive tail markings, so we can instantly identify her when she dives.
When I see litter at the beach, I think of animals like Pinball and her young calf, and the things they have to navigate when they try to go about their daily lives. These whales face so many threats already – they don’t deserve our litter in their environment.
With your support, we organize over 200 beach cleanups each year. This keeps hundreds of thousands of pieces of litter from washing into the ocean.
You can be a partner in these efforts this holiday season. For every $40 you donate, we can remove 100 pounds of litter from a local beach! Working together, we can protect marine life like Pinball and her calf.
