The Gulf of Maine faces more threats than ever before. As the only organization that consistently studies whales and marine debris in our area, we’re gaining valuable information every day that can help protect marine life. Combining that data with our extensive experience and wide array of educational programs, we’re making a difference in the health of the Gulf of Maine, and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards.
Your Gift Will:
- Help us protect whales through our unique research. Your donation can support additional research surveys, data analysis and publication, equipment and software upgrades, and sharing this data with colleagues and resource managers for the benefit of whales.
- Keep local beaches clean and prevent litter from impacting marine life. We’ll conduct more than 200 cleanups in 2018, study microplastics on our local beaches, learn about marine debris accumulation rates through cleanups at the Isles of Shoals and other areas, and develop solutions to prevent marine debris.
- Inspire and train the next generation of environmental stewards. We’ve hosted more than 100 student interns since our founding, and educate thousands of people every year aboard whale watches, at schools and at our Blue Ocean Discovery Center. These program participants are armed with knowledge and tools that will lead to a healthier ocean.
