We strive to share our love of marine life with the public in the hope of spreading greater awareness of the Gulf of Maine and inspiring environmental stewardship. Our hands-on programs are fun and educational for schools and other groups such as Scout troops, after school programs, and summer camps.
Bring the great Gulf of Maine to your school with one of our hands on educational programs. We’d love to come to your school, library, club or other location to conduct an interactive program about marine life, and teach your students or members about whales, tide pool animals, and whale research! Have a life-size inflatable whale in your gym, a whale research presentation, or even a movie screening.
Want to get out of the classroom and outdoors? Come spend time at our Blue Ocean Discovery Center learning about tide pool animals and holding critters. Beach cleanups are another great way to get involved in protecting the marine environment, and get exercise! On our beach cleanups, we spend 1-2 hours collecting trash off a local beach and recording our findings. This way, your group provides a valuable contribution to our long-term study on marine pollution. Our cleanups include a short presentation on our research efforts and ways you can help protect the marine environment. We’ll also weigh our trash at the end. It’s a great way for kids to learn!
