December 18 Update: Thanks so much to everyone who has donated so far! We are almost to our goal! Can you help us get there by the end of the year?
Our ocean faces many threats. But our dedicated staff and volunteers are working tirelessly to protect the Gulf of Maine and its inhabitants. Please help us continue our work to protect marine life in the Gulf of Maine through research, education and inspiring action.
Your tax-deductible donation will help us:
- Study the magnificent whales off our coast, share our findings with the broader scientific community and ensure the protection of our local marine life.
- Deliver hands-on educational programs to schools around New England and at our Blue Ocean Discovery Center in Hampton Beach.
- Remove thousands of pounds of litter from the coastline and develop initiatives that prevent future pollution.
Thank you so much for your support!
Above image: Owl, a female humpback born in 1986. Owl is one of the most well-studied whales in our local population. When she was 2-3 years old, she sustained a traumatic injury on her back. Despite that, she has gone on to have at least 9 calves. Unfortunately, this past August she was entrapped in a fishing net. Our research team documented the incident, which is currently under investigation by NOAA Law Enforcement. With your support, we’ll be out on the water again in the spring to continue collecting the vital data that is used to protect Owl and other whales that inhabit the Gulf of Maine.
