Join us this fall for the New Hampshire Coastal Cleanup! This is our biggest cleanup of the year, and is held in September and October in conjunction with the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup (ICC). New Hampshire has participated in the ICC for over 30 years.
On Friday, September 14, hundreds of students will descend on local beaches to conduct cleanups as part of our Student Cleanup Day. Saturday, September 15 is the worldwide cleanup day, and we’ll have several cleanups open to the public (find them on the Ocean Conservancy’s map here. If you can’t join us during one of those days, don’t worry! You can also arrange a cleanup for your group of 10+ people anytime in September and October and it’ll still count toward the International Coastal Cleanup results!
An important aspect of this cleanup (along with the other 200+ cleanups we do throughout the year) is data collection. While we’re cleaning the beach, we’ll record our findings on data cards, and this information is combined with results from cleanups around the world to learn about trends in litter and provide insights into how to prevent future pollution.
