Volunteer Spotlight: Neil Savage

Neil Savage

By Jill Taylor, Blue Ocean Society Volunteer

If you help with a beach cleanup, you may meet long-time volunteer Neil Savage, who has been helping with the New Hampshire Coastal Cleanup for many years.  From Exeter, Neil is retired now but has worked as an aquatic ecologist, scientific and technical writer, and adjunct instructor at local community colleges.

In addition to volunteering with us, he is also a Girl Scout leader and co-founded the “Coastal Rompers” Girl Scout Troop.  These middle and high school girls lead sea-rated programs for young scouts, coordinate beach cleanups in Rye, and take field trips to marine aquariums and laboratories.  His troop has participated in the NH Coastal Cleanup for more than 20 years!!  Definitely a volunteer to talk with!
